Last night I posted this
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Because I love engines with exhaust in the valley of the Vee. I got to detailing some thoughts I had in responses to some comments, but I think it might be possible, with a bit of creative machining, to modify a Ford 4.6L Mod SOHC into this configuration.
So lets pretend for a second that I pulled it off, what would I put it in? A retro F1 racer, duh! But the debilitating questions is, Aero or non-Aero car? And I have access to solid modeling software and CFD, so making the aero work is a non-issue.
And since we're playing crazy games, what livery would you use? But here's a twist - everyone loves retro livery, Martini makes me weak at the knees - but what modern livery could be redone in a retro style to compliment a retro F1 racer?
And to get the creative juices flowing, here are some cars I like:
And here are some modern liveries that might be fun to play with:

True. But it looks the business, and I love it so much, I'm giving it a pass.

Non-Aero if it's going to be lower horsepower (sub-400), Aero if higher.
Mclaren-Mercedes Vodafone livery would be cool -
Or on the complete other end of the spectrum, something completely insane Pepsi Max's V8 Supercars-

I would probably shooting for the 400HP mark. That would be way more than enough to get me in trouble in such a light little car. The Lotus 38, pictured first, was reported to be 500-550HP and was by all accounts, an absolute animal to drive.
Also, I'm with you on the Vodaphone, I think its a cool looking car. Those Pepsi cars are crazy! The only reason I couldn't do it is because I absolutely can't stand Pepei. I'm a Coke person through and through.

This is also a cool livery -
You could probably make it look good on a retro car with a little work.

Yeah, that does look pretty sweet, and I do like Irwin tools! I've drilled about a zillion holes with their drill bits.
